This was another nice fresh fish from the canal at Lake Otamangakau the other day.As you can see the fish were real keen on that small Cadillac pheasant tail nymph. It really is a top nymph and works just about everywhere. If you have a close look at this fish’s head it is amazing the number of different colours in the head.

Jason from Trout Beck had a good afternoon in the Hydro Pool on the Tongariro river yesterday with a number of rainbow trout landed and a big brown lost.

Prospects for the weekend look good for all the local river’s and all so the stream mouth’s. A report from four folk from across the ditch who were out with a local guide yesterday fishing the Tongariro Delta they at good fishing with with some good sized rainbow landed.

Another great fish that I caught and released up at Otamangakau yesterday this fish put up a great fightAnd no wonder when you see where the fly was the fish happy to see the end of the fly and my self . I was back up at the O this morning the flow in the canal was still good but water had cleared over night the fish had a bite in the half light but once the light was on the water that was that . Another great report from the Tongariro river from yesterday with one of the local’s having a high old time landing a number of good rainbow’s and a double figure brown. Still very few anglers about to make the most of some very good fishing.This from Jason from Trout beck looking out of his front window as you can see the Tauranga/Taupo has had a good fresh but maybe fishable tomorrow.

A very nice fish that I caught and released while fishing the canal at lake Otamangakau this morning conditions up there were good and there was anumber of fish hooked. Another great fish from the canal but this was not the only place fishing well this morning Wiskery Mike reported some great fishing on the Tongariro river this morning and I think this will continue for the next few day’s.As you c an see I was alittle late getting the hook set on this fish but still a head shot.The Tauranga/Taupo river will be good in a day or two times this morning it was still running high and dirty.

Three nice fish that Morrie caught Friday afternoon in quick order from the Tauranga/Taupo river. The T/T produced some great fishing last week and will do again later this week once the river clears from the present fresh. Some heavy rain during the day has made the Tongariro river rise at the moment at around 36 cumx’s the forcast has more rain so the river may go higher.

The Tauranga /Taupo really fired yesterday in the lower reachs this is Tracy from Trout Beck out side the lodge and hooked up.Jason and Tracy had a couple of hot hour’s yesterday with Jason saying that they had hooked in excess of thirty fish mostly on small glow bugs as the water did have colour in it.Most of the fish that Tracy and Jason hooked were nice and fresh. As I said yesterday the Tauranga /Taupo river will fish well this weekend with a number of fish that were in the lower river yesterday having moved up the river. No news from the Tongariro river this morning but I expect that there will be a number of good fresh fish in the river and this will also fish well over this coming weekend.

Nice fish that I caught this morning while having a quick fish before coming into the shop. The Tongariro river is looking very good this morning and I would suspect that you would have a great days fishing today.I lost a very fresh fish this morning at my feet very much straight out of the lake it has to be said that there are some great fish out there and the winter fishing is looking very good.My little glow bug was at work again today these are fishing very well first thing in the morning. Jason from TroutBeck fishing Lodge was in this morning he said that the Tauranga/Taupo river was carring colour but fished very well this morning he landed ten fish in quick order prospects for the Tauranga /Taupo river over the weekend look very good as along with the likes of the Waimarino river a very good weekend to be here for what I think will be some great late autumn fishing.

The rain is falling this morning which is great to see as we do need a bit of fresh water in the river systems and lake Taupo . I have had fresh reports fom the Delta and it appears that the fishing has picked up over the last day or so with some as you can see very good fish been caught this chap was fishing with Michael from Something Fishy charters on Monday Michael said they missed a heap of fish and another report I had from the Delta was of two anglers landing sixteen fish also on Monday.The Tauranga /Taupo river is also producing some very good fishing over the last day or so these folk were out with Jason from Trout Beck and had a great time and with the bit of rain that we have at the momment I expect this to continue.The Tongariro also produced some good fish this morning the report that I had said that the fish were very fresh I suspect that the next day or so is going to produce some great fishing around the Taupo district.

Peter Morrie and my self have been back soft baiting in the Bay Of Plenty we had a great trip catching alot of fish like this tasty looking guy not big fish but prime eaters. Cold here in Turangi today and we are still awaiting some decent rain to spark the rivers up abit. I belive there are still good numbers of fish in the Tauranga/Taupo but that river is real low and clear.No reports from the Tongariro river so far today still not alot of anglers about plenty of space on the big river.Jason from Trout Beck with a nice fish caught and released up at the big O the other day. Reports of big fish looking at the moon over the weekend from some of the duck shooters that were up at Lake Otamangakau this happens alot at this time of the year on the top of the moon.I was talking with Chris from Judges Motel he said that the fishing at the Delta on Taupo had been a bit slow over the last day or so you can put that down to the moon and you will find that the fishing at all the stream mouths will improvr has the moon wane’s.

Tracy showed Jason how to catch fish up at Lake Otamangakau the other day the O has produced some great fish this season.Dave with another great fish from the O. Fresh Info from the Tongariro river today has very scarce as there are very few rods on the river. I was talking with Jason from Trout Beck this morning and there appears that folk are starting to pick up fish at the Tauranga/Taupo river mouth the lake must have dropped enough that you reach the drop off wading. nice fine week end coming up and the fishing if you move around is great.

Peter was fishing the Tauranga/Taupo river with Jason from Trout Beck Fishing Lodge the other day . Talking with Jason today and he reports a number of fish that have moved in to the Tauranga /Taupo river over the last 24 hours.Russel with a fish caught while fishing with Jason. It is fine in Turangi today but we have a very cold wind from the south and there are reports of fresh snow on Ruapehu I have had no reports from the Tongariro river today with the wind and cold wind what few anglers that are here must have their heads down.Teresa has also been fishing with Jason as you can see there is not alot of water in the Tauranga /Taupo river at the moment but the fish are in there but a bit of stealth is required.
