Whiskery Mike with a very nice hen caught at the Tauranga Taupo mouth while bug fishing. The sun is out this afternoon after a morning of steady rain the Tongariro river is at thirty cumxs at the moment and may come up a bit more later this afternoon as the water from up the top makes it way down stream. The few rods that are here fishing the Tongariro are catching some great fish if they strike the small pulses that are moving though at the moment and there have been some big brown trout lost this week . Not alot of news from the lake today but the stream mouths will be fishing if the wind allows .Another view of Mikes fish and look at that powerfull looking tail you can see why these fish have some boogy. I have a new line to field test so I must get out in the morning and see how it goes.Prospects for this coming week end look good with fresh fish in the Taupo rivers. Jason gets out for a fish now and again when hes not guiding clients here he is with a nice brown caught recently.Not alot to report this morning as angler numbers remain light. Gordon fished the Hydro Pool on the Tongariro River last evening with the wet line he fished up till nineish landing six nice rainbows he fished the same pool this morning for jack last nights fish had moved .Another report from Otamangakau yesterday decribing the fishing as very hard it has also been noted that the water temperture of the big O has dropped down to 9 degrees and this may have put the fish down. Bug action on Friday before the rain Whiskey Mike hooked up at the Waimo. Rain of and on over the weekend did bring the Tongariro up and did put colour in the river. Info from the weekend was scratchy but from what I understand the fishing on the Tongariro was difficult. This morning the Tongariro is flowing at twenty nine cumxs and has abit of colour but is very fishable. A part from the Bridge Pool there appeared to be very rods about this morning so plenty of room for those who might be here this week. Whiskey Mikes not so secret bug I have been catching most of my fish on a UV booby that I tie it seens to catch fish when other flies are a bit slow. One report from Otamangakau over the week end from Big Grant and the Ninga who both described the fishing as average the Big O closes at the end of month so not much time left. Prospects for the coming week should be good with more rain in the forecast later in the week. Bought to you by the ARMY OF ONE.

Some times photos don’t do fish justice. This fish Lynn the reliable caught last Sunday afternoon and would have gone a honest four L/b the fish was in great shape but you wouldn’t think so by the photo. Angler numbers remain light but I did have reports yesterday of fish been caught in the Tongariro by the few rods that are here. We still have rain in the forcast for the weekend and if this happens it will give the fishery a much needed shake up.BOUGHT TO YOU BY THE ARMY OF ONE.

Over cast at the moment this morning here in Turangi but with very little wind. Photo today is courtsy of Dan Riviere who caught this great fish at the Waitahanui rip on Monday after buying a #7 TFO BVK . Dan was very happy with the rod reel and line combo that I had recommended to him. Not alot has changed in the last day or so other than one report from a local this morning who has been having a great time in the lower section of the river wetlining.With rain on the way the Taupo rivers will all see runs of early fish by what Gordon was telling me there are numbers of fish holding in the lower sections of the Tongariro River.BOUGHT TO YOU BY THE ARMY OF ONE.

A very foggy start to the day but the sun is now breaking though. The photo above is of a very nice hen that I caught this morning on one of my UV booby flies while fishing at one of the stream mouths. I kept this fish and released two more fish that were carbon copies of the one in the pic. I had another report from Morrie who had fish out of the Tongariro yesterday early afternoon Morrie was fishing the town pools and was pleased with the result . No other fresh news so far today as there are still very few anglers about it would be fair to say that the fishing is steady for those anglers who are moving around and that there are good quality fish out there. A great day here in Turangi after a frosty start this morning. The above Pic is of a nice Jack that I caught at the Tauranga/Taupo river mouth a few day’s ago. There are great fish been caught at the river mouth’s at the moment but you do need to put the time in. Not a great deal of rod’s about at the moment either at the mouths or on Taupos rivers I did have one report this morning from the Tongariro of a few silver bullets been caught yesterday as well as the occasional good brown Trout. There are small pulses of fresh fish moving up the rivers of the Taupo fishery but you will need to be mobile to catch up with them. Between the mouths and the rivers there is some good sport to be had for those keen anglers. Do’nt forget our good prices on nymphs and the breathable wader boot combo that I have at the moment. Nice fine day here in Turangi today.The Tongariro is fishable this morning after getting up to around sixty cumxs yesterday and been a bit dirty. A few more reports yesterday of some nice fish been caught in the Tongariro River over the weekend as can be seen by the Top photo courtsy of Morrie .Another cracker taken again by Morrie of Morrie Bug fame I also had other reports of great fish been caught. As I said yesterday the pulses will be small but with the lack of rods about you will be able to cover different water to catch up with fish. With these fresh fish a nice glow bug will do the job early morning nymphing then back to naturals during the brighter hours. And of course do’nt forget the wet line on the rivers at times they fish very well and there is alot of water that you can cover much better with the wet line than you can nymphing Do’nt forget our $1.00 and $1.20 nymph’s very well tied and on good strong hooks and our breathable wader/boot combo deal at #299.00. Three fish that Lynn the reliable caught at the T/T on Saturday morning. As you can see there are some real good fish to be had at the moment. The fly that Lynn was using is one I tie a white booby but a booby with a differenceNow the stream mouths are not the only game in town this silver beauty was caught also on Saturday by Morrie of the Morrie Bug Fame while fishing the Tongariro this girl was straight out of the lake.Today we have strong winds and the odd shower conditions that will see pods of fresh fish moving though all of the Taupo rivers I would expect not in big numbers but there will be fresh fish to be had not a bad week to be here.

Another happy angler who fished with Jason from Trout Beck a few day’s ago. Overcast today with light brezze’s and we do have the prospect of some rain over the weekend which will help the fishing. There was a movement of fish in the Tongariro River aday or so ago and one or two nice fish taken and it would appear that early morning is giving the best results . No reports from the great lake over the last few days I would imange that there are very few boats on the lake at the moment the trolling should be picking up around the Delta and pink is always a good colour at this time of the year.
